We exist to improve the lives of smallholder farmers at scale through the introduction of superior yet affordable bio-digester technology

The challenge

Smallholder farmers are disproportionately affected by the impacts of climate change such as floods and droughts. Increasing prices of chemical fertilizer and pesticides further limit their ability to make a living.

2.3 billion people rely on solid biomass for cooking which results in roughly 3 million premature deaths annually. Smallholder farmers that are able to afford LPG fuel are confronted with increased prices.

The solution

Introduction of bio-digester technology has a transformative effect on these farms as they directly improve sanitation and provide access to biogas; a clean, convenient, reliable and free renewable fuel and increases farm productivity and associated family income through bio-slurry, a superior organic fertilizer.

Globally 150.000.000 farmers would benefit from the introduction of bio-digester technology in their lives. Verdant Biogas has developed a new and superior type of bio-digester

Approach

The technology has been designed in the Netherlands, where the Verdant Biogas Headquarters is located. Most of the activities are however implemented in the countries where our customers are located. Verdant Biogas aims to unleash the power of the local private sector in the countries where we operate and create value locally. Our products are produced locally under close supervision of Verdant Biogas to prevent unnecessary shipping and associated emissions while creating value locally and limiting transport costs. This enables us to provide optimal value for money to our customers.

We exclusively work with local installation partners which receive intensive on the job training to ensure that our product is installed according to our specifications.

Installation partners serve customers in their own communities. This means they can closely follow up with our customers to ensure optimal end user satisfaction and provide after sales service when needed.

We provide a healthy margin to installation partners, reflecting their important contribution. This enables installation partners to make a good living while building their own business.
